Milling Machine Head Repair and Rebuilding Services Across the U.S.

We repair and rebuild Bridgeport heads, along with taking trade-ins. For our head refurbishments, we inspect and repair any issues in the quill housing and upper housing. We will replace all the belts, bearings bushings, and sliding keys in the upper head. Replace any other required parts, ensure all quill power-down feed components are working correctly, and give the head a new paint job.  Please note; that spindle bearings are only changed if required or requested. Once we have your head up on a bench, we will disassemble and evaluate the head, and we will contact you and discuss our findings. The rebuild should take two to three days to complete once on the bench. There is usually a 1-3 week lead time, from the head arriving to it going up on the bench. Step Pully – $1,900 – $2,300 (This estimate is contingent on normal wear and tear.)

Variable Speed – $2,100 – $2,500 (This estimate is contingent on normal wear and tear.)

Additional Information About Our Head Rebuild Repair Process

  • Set up and test run the head for proper operation at all speeds and feed before disassembly.
  • Disassemble and clean each component of the upper head, inspection for damage or excessive wear, and inform you of problems we find that will be over and above the standard rebuild.
  • Install new upper head bearings, belts, bushings, and keys into the upper half of the head (these parts are included in the cost of the rebuild).
  • Remove the spindle, disassemble, clean, and flush the bearings. Repack with new high-speed grease. Reassemble and test for proper operation.
  • Reassemble the head and test for proper operation.
  • The time required to complete the above-proposed repairs will be one to three days once on the bench. Time to bench is usually between 1-3 weeks, please call to get the current lead time.
