The JET GHB-1236 lathe combines geared headstock performance, durable machine construction, and versatile machining capabilities in a compact industrial metalworking lathe. Designed for machine shops, maintenance departments, fabrication facilities, and general metalworking applications, this 12″ x 36″ metal lathe provides dependable performance for turning, facing, boring, drilling, threading, and precision repair work.

Powered by a 2 HP, 230V single-phase motor, the GHB-1236 provides machining capability without requiring three-phase electrical service. Its geared headstock offers nine selectable spindle speeds ranging from 75 to 1,400 RPM, allowing operators to select appropriate cutting speeds for different materials, tooling, and machining operations.

With a 12″ swing over the bed and 33″ distance between centers, the GHB-1236 accommodates a variety of cylindrical workpieces, including shafts, bushings, pins, threaded components, and replacement parts. Its 18″ swing through the gap provides additional clearance for short, larger-diameter workpieces when the removable gap section is properly configured.

The machine’s 1-9/16″ spindle bore allows compatible bar stock to pass through the headstock, reducing the need for unnecessary material cutoffs and repositioning. A D1-4 camlock spindle mount supports compatible chucks and workholding accessories.

JET incorporates Meehanite headstock castings to provide structural rigidity and vibration-damping characteristics during machining. The machine also includes a four-way tool post and a tailstock with an MT3 taper for compatible centers, drill chucks, and other tooling.

The GHB-1236 supports both inch and metric threading, with 36 inch thread selections ranging from 4 to 60 TPI and 32 metric thread selections ranging from 0.4 to 7 mm.
