JET JVM-836 Step Pulley Vertical Milling Machine

The JET JVM-836 milling machine delivers professional machining capabilities in a compact vertical knee mill design. Built for toolrooms, repair facilities, maintenance departments, and smaller metalworking shops, the JVM-836 combines a rigid machine structure, precision-ground components, and straightforward mechanical controls for dependable milling, drilling, and boring operations.

Powered by a 1-1/2 HP motor, the JVM-836 is available in two electrical configurations. The JVM-836-1 operates on 115/230V single-phase power, while the JVM-836-3 operates on 230V three-phase power. Both models use a step pulley drive system that allows operators to select spindle speeds appropriate for different cutting tools and materials.

The precision-ground 7-7/8″ x 35-3/4″ worktable, commonly described as an 8″ x 36″ table, provides room for machine vises, fixtures, and workpieces without requiring the floor space of a larger industrial knee mill. With up to 24″ of longitudinal travel, 9-1/2″ of cross travel, and 14″ of knee travel, the machine offers versatility for a variety of machining setups.

The JET JVM-836 milling machine features an R-8 spindle taper that accommodates commonly available milling collets, end mill holders, and cutting tools. Its 5″ spindle travel, manual fine-feed control, and micrometer depth adjustment allow operators to perform controlled drilling, boring, and milling operations.

Precision-ground dovetail ways, a chromed quill, high-precision spindle bearings, and a one-shot lubrication system contribute to the machine’s accuracy, durability, and ease of maintenance.

JVM-836-1 – Single-Phase Model

The JVM-836-1 features a 1-1/2 HP, 115/230V single-phase motor, factory-wired for 115V operation. It provides five spindle speeds ranging from 240 to 1,550 RPM, making it suitable for shops without three-phase electrical service.

JVM-836-3 – Three-Phase Model

The JVM-836-3 features a 1-1/2 HP, 230V three-phase motor with ten spindle speeds ranging from 120 to 1,550 RPM. This configuration provides additional speed selections for different machining requirements.
